Your Madison St. Patrick’s Day Guide

The 20th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is slated to be the biggest event in the city. Wear your green, and head to Capitol Square at 1:30 pm to check out the lavish displays, floats, entertainment and Irish fare. The local Irish Family of the Year will be honored, and famous bagpiper and leprechaun Joe Herr will bring some luck to your Madison festivities.

The Celtic Cultural Center of Madison hosts events throughout the year, and March 10th and 16th is the annual Mad Gael Productions which kicks off St. Paddy’s Day parties. Tickets start at $20 for this Celtic music production at the Barrymore Theater. All the way from Ireland, We Banjo 3 blends traditional Irish music with Americana and bluegrass.

Greenery Galore

Check out the 5k, 10k and 2k fun run and walk at the Shamrock Shuffle! It all starts at Overture Center for the Arts on State Street, and it’s fun for the whole family with an after party full of fun, games and plenty of green treats.

Madison is full of Irish pubs and restaurants, each offering their own unique spin on the holiday. Erin’s Snug Irish Pub & Restaurant is a traditional tavern featuring live entertainment along with classic Irish grub and beer. Brocach Irish Pub hosts traditional music year-round, but really goes all out on March 17th. Where will you kick off the biggest party of the spring?
