Madison’s Fourth of July Celebrations
Madison is full of celebrations for the Fourth, starting with the northern side of the city in Bayfield and La Pointe. Watch the ‘works over the Great Lakes at the Bayfield Fourth of July event, where boating lovers undertake a blindfolded dinghy race, the food vendors whip up delights and you can berry pick before the big show. The parade on Madeline Island is full of crazy floats and live music from Big Top Chautauqua.
Head to Green Bay for the biggest display in the region at Fire Over the Fox. National performers, salutes, a carnival and more keeps your patriotism high all day long. There’s also Door County, voted the best celebration in the county with a parade, music, food and more during a two-day extravaganza.
“Works” of Art
In Central Madison, Stevens Point is a favorite where the whole weekend centers around the Riverfront Rendezvous. Pfiffner Pioneer Park is the hub to all types of live music, a poetry slam and beer garden from Stevens Point Brewery. In Wisconsin Dells, more than 1,300 fireworks are launched annually, the biggest anywhere within city limits.
Other visitors prefer to head south to Shake the Lake, a free outdoor party along Lake Monona with a market where you can shop for antiques and crafts. The US Bank Fireworks at Veterans Park is another favorite for city dwellers who flock to the live show and Fireworks Kite Festival.
