The Madison Area Sports Commission (MASC) oversees some of the top games, tournaments and races in the city. In February, there’s plenty of action to be seen, starting with the USA Climbing American Bouldering Series National Championships, which takes place daily the first week of the month. Located on the shores of Lake Monona at the Monona Terrace, climbers and fans from around the world gather to see who has the best grip and scrambling skills.
Madison Winter Festival kicks off daily through Valentine’s Day and it brings in more than 20,000 fans every year. Capitol Square gets more than 90 trucks of snow delivered, turning it into a festival of ice skating, creating sculptures, snowshoeing, and other wintry activities for the whole family to enjoy.

The WIAA Boys Swimming and Diving State Tournament takes place daily through February 20th, featuring the best high school athletes in Wisconsin. Held on Observatory Drive, the event is open to the public and is a much-needed distraction from what can be a blustery winter in Madison.
