Walnut Grove Park

Madison is full of gorgeous parks, and June is the perfect month to explore some of the city’s gems. Walnut Grove Park is located at 202 North Westfield Road and is open from 4 a.m. – 10 p.m. Nestled on just over 20 acres, it’s a favorite location for picnics, outdoor recreation, running, hiking, or simply relaxing and taking in the beauty of the city.

You’ll find it on the west side of Madison and often full of families. The impressive playground equipment means it’s a choice destination on weekends, and you might spy school children on trips as you arrive. There are also soccer fields and plenty of open acreage.

The Beauty of Madison

With a basketball court, off-leash dog area, pickleball court, picnic shelters and tennis court, Walnut Grove is suitable for every outing you have in mind. (In the winter, it’s a favorite for snowshoeing, too!) For those looking to host a get together at a Madison Park, Walnut Grove does allow alcohol (though you’ll need a permit).

Also explore Tenney Park, James Madison Park, Demetral Park, Olbrich Park, Penn Park, and Lake Edge Park—just a few of Madison’s other well-kept, stunning park destinations perfect for your summer outing. Experience the true nature of the city with each park just a short distance from your guest room.
